Computer Security

The use of antivirus software plays a pivotal role in safeguarding against malware and various online threats, serving as a foundational element of digital security. By actively scanning for and removing malicious software, antivirus programs help protect personal and sensitive information from unauthorised access. However, in today's increasingly sophisticated threat landscape, relying solely on antivirus protection is not enough. Integrating additional online protection methods, such as employing strong, unique passwords, enabling two-factor authentication, practising safe browsing habits, and ensuring regular software updates, significantly enhances your cyber defence.

If you are the victim of a cyber attack, the first thing you shuld do is identify the type of attack, as each type of attack is different and thus requires different solutions. For example, a malware attack may reauire you to contact an IT professional, while a phising attack would require you to investigate the sender. Containing the attack should be the next step and can be accomplished by disconnecting the infected device from other devices and any networks. Notifying appropriate parties to help fix the problem is also highly recommended as they are professionals in this field. Recover or backup any data you wish to save and then bulk up your cyber defences to prevent further attacks.
